I fell in love with this desk as soon as I saw it online. It was perfect for my office / man cave. The directions are pretty straight forward, but it will take some time. I've put together numerous pieces of furniture, but this one was by far the most time consuming. I split it up between 3 days, and it probably took 4-5 hours total. If you have someone helping you, you can easily cut that in half. My only word of advice, build it in exact spot you plan to keep it. You build it upside down essentially, and flip it when you're done. Once it's right side up, it's VERY heavy and difficult to move.

Overall quality of the desk is very good. The materials are solid, the pieces fit together well and it looks good when assembled. Unfortunately it ends there. I do not use the keyboard drawer because it is to low. When using the keyboard on the desk, the desk edges are so sharp, they leave lines cut in to your wrist and/or arm. The keyboard drawer makes it tight to slide under the desk, causing me to stretch to use a mouse. The desk is uncomfortable making it unusable for long periods of time.

We have used Sauder in the past and have found these products work well. They are sturdy and hold up for many years, however the instructions were not easy to follow

Very satisfactory and perfectly functional, but ...
from Lakewood, NJ
(1) The best thing about the product: the inventory. Not a single piece of hardware, neither panel nor assembly hardware, was missing. Extra screws were provided for contingencies. Kudos! (2) The assembly instructions, especially the pictorials, were excellent, although sometimes a bit more information would have been useful. For example, since I assembled the desk in a relatively tight space, I would have found the following instruction useful at the very beginning (Step 7, page 13): "Before assembling to the top (E), orient the top in a position so that the desk won't need to be turned around when the unit is up-righted." I lost about 20 minutes because I had the top oriented incorrectly at first. (3) I needed help in order to assemble the backs (G) to the unit (Step 10, page 16). (4) It seems to me that the usage of the desk as a computer base was an afterthought. When inserting wires thru the grommets, you have to actually remove a drawer in order to access the wire and pull it thru to the hole in the side panel! If you're inserting the wire from the bottom, you need someone to grab the wire and hold it till you get off the floor and complete the connection! Unacceptable! A simple fix? Add a trap door in each back panel (G) big enough for an adult hand to fit through, to facilitate threading of the wires between the grommets and the holes in the upright panels (C) and (D). (5) Installing the keyboard drawer was no small feat. It had to be forced onto place. (6) After all the difficulties were overcome, and I re-configured my computer hardware the way I wanted it, I'm proud of the way the desk looks! It's a beautiful piece of fine furniture, and it matches my hardwood floor.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT and TOP NOTCH SERVICE
from South Texas
This is by far the best online purchase I have made in the past several years. The quality was excellent, the best product of this type (buyer assembled) that I have EVER purchased online or in the store. The drawer slide instructions could have been a little better but other than that easy to put together. This desk is the sturdiest designed furniture I have ever put together. I also purchased it on sale which only multiplies the value. The delivery company (ABF) was fast and courteous, the driver was EXCELLENT. I live in a mobile home park in South Texas and have had problems with deliveries in the past, especially 200+ lbs.items which this desk is. Not a problem with ABF. I would buy from Sauder again in a heartbeat!!!!!
Very nice desk

Putting it together was fairly easy but several of the parts weren't labeled so had to make adjustments.
Absolutely Love It!
from Hamilton, Ohio
I love this desk, it is exactly as pictured and described. Shipping was fast, arrived as expected. Putting it together seems overwhelming at first, there are so many pieces. If you organize and layout the parts in order with the steps in the instructions beforehand, the assembly is a breeze. Step 5 was a little confusing with the cabinet rails "SS & RR" in the book, I couldn't find the labels "SS & RR" anywhere on any of the rails. I eventually figured it out though. The last step was to insert the keyboard drawer and I couldn't get it to slide in. I double and triple checked the instructions and was sure I assembled everything correctly. Just so you know, you do have to use a little 'force' in pushing it past some little stoppers in the rail. Had to call in my husband to figure out this part because I was afraid I would break something. I suppose those stoppers are there to keep the keyboard drawer secure and from sliding out too far (makes sense now). Other than those 2 little issues with the instructions (Sauder may want to make a note of it in their assembly guide), everything else went perfectly. If you take your time and organize everything first, plan on it taking about 4-5 hrs. to assemble it if you are inexperienced like me. I am very, very happy with the end product. Thank you Sauder!
Orchard Hills Executive Office Desk

At first, I thought it might be too big, but now I am really glad to have all that desk and cabinet space. The desk is beautiful. I am going to match it up with an Orchard Hills Bookcase and Chest of Drawers. The assembly took me, on and off, two days to complete. It was done as a one man job.
Excellent economy-priced desk
By Father D

I have purchased several Sauder products and find them to be solid and durable. This desk, in particular, is well-built and very commodious with features usually found only on much more expensive desks, specifically two file drawers and cut-outs for computer wiring. There are many pieces to this desk; but if you begin with a thorough inventory of parts and follow each step meticulously, you should encounter no difficulties in assembly. Just take your time. The only drawback I found is that screws which mount the molding to the top of the desk are not countersunk and can interfere with the operation of the drawers.

Sauder can do much better
This desk was a disappointment. It arrived with a cracked desktop. The pre-drilled holes for the drop-down keyboard drawer were nowhere near the correct location. The pre-drilled holes for the angle brackets were way too small, and I couldn't get a drill in there to open them up. We wasted an hour tightening these screws by hand. The replacement desktop arrived four days later, but we had to put it out for trash, since Sauder wouldn't take it back. We won't buy another Sauder product.
