Using Bar Carts in the Office

Go Back

Bar carts: they’re functional, attractive and ultra-popular. But did you know how versatile these little shelves on wheels can be? Bar carts can be used for a whole lot more than just storing and serving up beverages. Here are a few of the ways that we’ve found these guys to be useful in the office.

As extra desk space. If you’re working in a small cubicle or home office, you probably need all the extra space you can get. That’s where bar carts come in handy. Just pull out your cart when it’s needed and roll it back into the corner at the end of the day. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that, and this gold bar cart from Rachel at A Detailed Palette is so gorgeous too!

As a printer stand. Printers take up a ton of space, and, as we mentioned above, you need to save all the space you can get! When you make a bar cart your printer’s home, you won’t need to take up any of your precious desktop space, and you’ll only have to have it in your space when it’s needed, so it won’t get in the way of your everyday tasks. Plus, bar carts generally come with multiple tiers of shelving, which means you’ll have room to keep computer paper and extra ink cartridges on the cart too. This bar cart printer stand from Melissa at The Happier Homemaker is so versatile!

As a plant stand. Adding organic elements such as plants to your workspace can be a major mood booster, and it’s been shown to improve productivity in office employees. Unfortunately, not many cubicles come with the built-in shelving needed to keep those plants up and off your work surface. The nice thing about bar carts, other than providing extra space to house a plant or two, is that they can be easily moved to areas that get more sunlight during certain parts of the day and then wheeled back over to your workspace during times when you may need a little pick-me-up. We love this bar cart turned plant stand that Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl upcycled.
